Diesel generator set is a type of AC power supply equipment for own power plant. It is a small independent power generation equipment, which drives synchronous alternator and generates electricity by internal combustion engine.
Modern diesel generator set consists of diesel engine, three-phase AC brushless synchronous generator, control box (screen), radiator tank, coupling, fuel tank, muffler and common base, etc. as a steel whole. The flywheel housing of the diesel engine and the front end cap of the generator are directly connected axially by shoulder positioning to form one set, and a cylindrical elastic coupling is used to drive the rotation of the generator directly by the flywheel. The connection mode is screwed together to form a steel body, which ensures that the concentricity of the crankshaft of the diesel engine and the rotor of the generator is within the specified range.
Diesel generator set is composed of internal combustion engine and synchronous generator. The maximum power of internal combustion engine is limited by mechanical and thermal loads of components, called rated power. The rated power of AC synchronous generator refers to the rated power output under rated speed and long-term continuous operation. Generally, the matching ratio between the rated power output of diesel engine and the rated power output of synchronous alternator is called matching ratio.
Diesel Generator Set
▶ 1. Overview
Diesel generator set is a small-scale power generation equipment, which refers to the power machinery that takes diesel as fuel and takes diesel engine as prime mover to drive the generator to generate electricity. Diesel generator set generally consists of diesel engine, generator, control box, fuel tank, starting and control battery, protection device, emergency cabinet and other components. The whole can be fixed on a foundation, positioned for use, or mounted on a trailer for mobile use.
Diesel generator set is a non-continuous operation power generation equipment. If it operates continuously for more than 12 hours, its output power will be less than 90% of the rated power.
Despite its low power, diesel generators are widely used in mines, railways, field sites, road traffic maintenance, as well as factories, enterprises, hospitals and other departments as backup or temporary power supply due to their small size, flexibility, portability, complete supporting facilities and easy operation and maintenance. In recent years, the newly developed unattended fully automatic emergency power station has enlarged the application scope of this type of generator set.
▶ 2. Classification and specification
Diesel generators are classified according to the output power of the generator. The energy of the diesel generators varies from 10 kW to 750 kW. Each specification is divided into protective type (equipped with over-speed, high water temperature, low fuel pressure protection device), emergency type and mobile power station type. Mobile power plants are divided into high-speed off-road type with matching speed of vehicle and normal mobile type with low speed.
▶ 3. Ordering Precautions
The export inspection of diesel generator set is carried out according to relevant technical or economic indexes stipulated in the contract or technical agreement. Users should pay attention to the following points when choosing and signing contracts:
(1) If there is a difference between the ambient conditions used and the calibrated ambient conditions of the diesel generator set, the temperature, humidity and altitude values shall be stated at the time of signing the contract to provide suitable machinery and supporting equipment;
(2) Describe the cooling method adopted in use, especially for large capacity sets, more attention should be paid;
(3) When ordering, besides the type of set, it should also indicate which type to choose.
(4) The rated voltage of the diesel engine group is 1%, 2% and 2.5% respectively. The choice should also be explained.
(5) A certain amount of fragile parts shall be provided for normal supply and shall be specified if necessary.
▶ 4. Inspection items and methods
Diesel generators are a complete set of products, including diesel engines, generators, control components, protection devices, etc. Complete machine inspection of export products, including the following:
(1) Review of technical and inspection data of products;
(2) Specifications, models and main structural dimensions of the products;
(3) Overall appearance quality of products;
(4) set performance: main technical parameters, set operation adaptability, reliability and sensitivity of various automatic protection devices;
(5) Other items specified in the contract or technical agreement.
