The air filter in diesel generator set is an intake filtration treatment equipment to protect the normal operation of the engine. Its function is to filter dust and impurities contained in the air entering the engine so as to reduce abnormal wear of cylinders, pistons and piston rings and extend the service life of the engine.
Do not run the diesel engine without an air filter, remember the specified maintenance and replacement cycles, clean the air filter or replace the filter element as required for maintenance. When used in dusty environment, the filter element cleaning and replacement cycle should be shortened appropriately. The air filter element should also be cleaned or replaced when the intake resistance is too high and the air filter blockage alarm alarms.
Do not open or stack the empty filter element on wet ground when storing it. Check before using filter element, use recommended filter element. The random replacement of filter elements of different sizes is also the main cause of diesel engine failure.
The intake pipe should also be checked regularly or irregularly for damage, cracking of hose, loosening of clamps, etc. If loosening of fixing bolts, aging and breakage of connecting hose are found, timely treatment and replacement should be carried out, especially for the lines between air cleaner and turbocharger. Long-term operation of the diesel engine in a loose or damaged connecting hose (short circuit of the air filter) will result in dirty air entering the cylinder, excessive sand and dust, thus accelerating early wear of the cylinder, piston and piston rings, and subsequently leading to cylinder pulling, blow-by, sticky rings and burning of lubricating fuel, as well as accelerating contamination of the lubricating fuel.
